 Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 1/11/2017

 Receipts:  13,319    Week ago:    11,154    Year ago:  8,109

    Compared to last week:  Feeder steers sold steady to 2.00 lower with
 exception to the 600-650 lb range bringing 3.00 higher.  Feeder heifers brought
 2.00 to 4.00 higher.  Steer and heifer calves sold 5.00 to 10.00 higher with
 instances of 15.00 higher in the lighter weight categories.  Exceptional quality
 was exhibited throughout the sale with the majority of offerings consisting of
 long weaned calves.  Demand continues to remain strong after the two week
 absence of cattle sales and buyers continue to express optimism in their feed
 inventories and capabilities of adding weight, particularly regarding lighter
 calves. Forecasts of warmer weather were correct this week as temps rose to very
 comfortable, warm weather throughout the last few days.  Feeder supply included
 43 percent Steers, 55 percent Heifers, and  2 percent Bulls. Feeder Supply over
 600 lbs was 63 percent.
