Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 03/24/2017

Receipts: 10,658       Last Week 3,565        Last Year 1,396              

   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers 1.00-5.00 higher.  Feeder heifers
not recent test for a trend but a higher undertone is noted.  Demand 
improved again as cattle futures and cash slaughter cattle prices posted
gains once again.  Weather turned very warm for early spring but strong
March wind has been blowing from the South further drying out pastures.
Chances of rain are in the forecast for next week.  Receipts this week
consisted of 96 percent over 600 lbs and 41 percent heifers.  Unless 
otherwise stated prices are FOB weigh point with a 2-3 percent shrink or
equivalent and with a 8-12 cent slide on calves and 4-8 cent slide on
yearlings from base weights.  Current sales up to 14 days for delivery.
