Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 02/19/2019
 
Receipts:  557    Last Week:  1011    Year Ago:  728
   
   Compared to last Tuesday, feeder steers under 600 lbs not well tested, over
600 lbs 1.00-3.00 lower based on limited comparable sales. Feeder heifers under
550 lbs not well tested, over 550 lbs near steady. Slaughter cows steady. Demand
moderate. Supply light. Near 12 percent of the offering were cows and 62 percent
of the feeders were over 600 lbs. Feeder supply approximately 72 percent steers
and bulls and 28 percent heifers. Several cattle carrying some mud this week. 
Receipts were limited by more incoming winter weather. The board was higher 
Tuesday with April live cattle making a new contract high. As storms continue to
create poor feedlot conditions the potential for a fed cattle weather rally 
increase as people will likely begin to stir and beef demand will increase 
before feedlot performance and out weights recover.
