Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 10/17/2017

   Compared to last week, steers traded steady to 3.00 higher except 400-500 lbs
selling 5.00-7.00 higher. Heifers sold steady to 5.00 higher with the advance on
thinner fleshed yearlings. Demand remains very good for yearling cattle as
feedlots have remained current and an abundant supply of cheap corn is readily
available. Demand was moderate to good for unweaned calves early, light to
moderate late. Plenty of moisture and sunshine so far this fall has pastures in
excellent shape. The feeder offering was made up of near 51 percent steers and
bulls and 49 percent heifers with 60 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls
totaled 15 percent of the offering. Slaughter cows sold 1.00 to 3.00 lower.
Slaughter bulls sold 2.00-4.00 lower.
