Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 5/16/2017

   Compared to last week, steers and heifers under 700 lbs sold 3.00-10.00 lower
with spots up to 15.00 lower on 400-500 lbs steers. Too few yearlings for a
price trend, undertone was lower. Overall quality wasn?t as attractive and
several consignments were un-weaned or carrying flesh. Futures have taken a
beating since last week and a lower cash trade for fat cattle has taken some
of the optimism and spark out of the market. Demand was moderate to good with
a moderate supply. The feeder offering was made up of near 61 percent steers and
bulls and 39 percent heifers with 31 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls
totaled 12 percent of the offering. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady.
