Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 3/19/2013

Receipts:  1380    Last Week:  998    Year Ago:  1358

   Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 450 lbs 6.00-12.00 
lower, over 450 lbs steady to 6.00 lower with best demand for heifers near
500 lbs. Slaughter cows steady. Supply moderate. Near 12 percent of the offering
was cows and 42 percent of the feeders were over 600 lbs. Feeder supply 
approximately 56 percent steers and bulls and 44 percent heifers. The feeder 
market continues to be under pressure due to lackluster beef demand, feedlot red 
ink and high feed costs. 

   Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1  300-400 lbs 164.00-196.00; 400-500 lbs
163.50-172.50, couple packages fleshy 156.00; 500-600 lbs 141.00-170.00, few 
fleshy 137.00-139.00; 600-700 lbs 131.50-145.50, several calves/fleshy 122.00-
138.00; 700-800 lbs 123.75-129.00; 800-900 lbs 116.00-126.00; 900-950 lbs 
116.75-117.75. Medium and Large 1-2  350-400 lbs few 161.50-165.00; 400-500 lbs
153.00-163.00; 500-600 lbs 136.00-165.00; 19 head 794 lbs 120.75. Medium and 
Large 2  400-550 lbs 129.00-146.00. 

   Feeder Heifers: Medium and Large 1  275-300 lbs 140.00-155.00; 300-400 lbs
138.50-148.00; 400-500 lbs 139.00-147.00, several fleshy 135.00-137.00; 500-
600 lbs 127.50-148.00; 600-700 lbs 120.00-125.50; 700-800 lbs 115.50-119.75.
