Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 7/11/2018

Receipts:  583     Week Ago:  0    Year Ago:  398 

   Based on limited comparisons with the sale two weeks ago, feeder steers 
steady to 5.00 higher. Feeder heifers steady. Slaughter cows 3.00-4.00 higher.
Supply light. Near 10 percent of the offering were cows and 20 percent of the
feeders were over 600 lbs. Feeder supply approximately 56 percent steers and 
bulls and 44 percent heifers. The cattle market itself looks good at the moment
with fed cattle trading 6.00/cwt higher last week just when we should be 
reaching a summer low. However trade issues with China are creating lots of 
uncertainty, pushing futures lower so far this week with nearby Aug live
cattle closing Wednesday at 103.85 which is about 10.00/cwt below last weeks 
feedlot trade. This weeks feeder offering was mostly small packages with 
overall below average quality. 

   Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1  300-350 lbs 195.00-206.00; 400-500 lbs
173.00-179.00; 500-600 lbs 160.00-168.00; small package 635 lbs 157.00, package
calves 620 lbs 150.00; small package 700 lbs 146.00. Medium and Large 1-2  390-
400 lbs 187.00-188.00; 400-500 lbs 160.00-175.00; 500-600 lbs 157.00-167.00; 
700-750 lbs few 141.00-146.00. Medium and large 2  480-600 lbs 141.00-155.00; 
package 775 lbs 127.50.  
 
   Feeder Heifers: Medium and Large 1  300-400 lbs 146.00-151.00; 400-500 lbs
140.00-147.00; 500-600 lbs 137.50-146.00; package 640 lbs 136.50. Medium and 
Large 1-2  350-400 lbs 141.00-146.00; 400-500 lbs 140.00-141.00; 500-600 lbs
128.00-140.00; 600-650 lbs 130.50-131.75; package full 750 lbs 118.00. Medium
and Large 2 540-640 lbs 123.50-124.00. Medium 2-3  package 535 lbs 121.00. 

   Feeder bulls: Medium and Large 1-2  400-500 lbs 144.00-155.00; 575-600 lbs
138.00-144.00; package 675 lbs 125.50; small package 735 lbs 117.00.
