Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 3/22/2017

Receipts:  1158    Week Ago:  390    Year Ago:  1280

   Compared to last Wednesday, feeder steers and heifers 3.00-6.00 higher
with several heifers 475-575 lbs fully 8.00 higher. Slaughter cows steady
to 2.00 higher. Supply moderate. Near 8 percent of the offering were cows 
and 25 percent of the feeders were over 600 lbs. Feeder supply approximately
66 percent steers and bulls and 34 percent heifers. Several opportunities this
week to buy thin grazing cattle weighing 450-600 lbs. The cattle market is 
continuing to strengthen with traders bulled up again Wednesday pushing feeder
contracts 380 points higher. 

   Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1  280-300 lbs 182.00-199.00; 300-400 lbs
178.00-186.00, package fleshy 395 lbs 167.00; 400-500 lbs 170.00-186.00, 
package thin 415 lbs 190.00; 500-600 lbs 157.00-174.00; 600-700 lbs 141.00-
158.25; 700-800 lbs 135.00-139.50. Medium and Large 1-2  300-400 lbs 166.00-
