Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 12/09/15
Receipts: 1831 Week Ago: 1911 Year Ago: 780
Compared to last week, feeder steers traded 5.00 to 10.00
lower, instances 15.00 lower. Feeder heifers 10.00 to 15.00 lower,
instances 20.00 lower. Calves carrying any extra flesh received sharp
discounts. Buyers are still looking for those cattle that will be easy
to feed out in the pasture and fatten quickly. The downward trend in
the sale barns remains, making producers wonder when prices will
finally level out. Feeder Cattle futures closed sharply lower once
again, continuing pressure on cattle markets. Supply heavy, demand
moderate. Feeders over 600 lbs 45 percent of the offering, steers
and bulls approximately 63 percent, and heifers approximately 37
percent. Cows and bulls 15 percent. Slaughter cows 3.00 lower.
