Feeder cattle weighted average report for Thursday 05/03/2019

Cattle and Calves:  1256       Week ago:  1665      Year Ago:  1534

   Compared to last week:  Steer calves under 600 lbs and 400-600 lb heifer 
calves 3.00-5.00 lower; no test on heifer calves under 400 lbs. 600-800 lbs 
feeder steers 3.00-5.00 lower except two loads 801 lb steers sold steady.  600-
800 lb feeder heifers 2.00-4.00 lower.  Supply included a few packages of new 
crop calves with thirty to sixty days pre-conditioning.  The trade area has 
received scattered showers on the week with the same predicted for the coming 
week.  Slaughter cows and bulls firm to 1.00 higher.  Trade fairly active.   
Demand moderate.  Bulk of supply Medium and Large 1-2 450-825 lb feeder steers 
and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 20 percent, slaughter bulls less than 1 
percent, replacement cows less than 1 percent, and feeders 80 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 49 percent steers and 51 percent heifers.  Near 59 
percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
