Feeder Cattle Narrative report for Thursday 03/30/2017

Cattle and Calves:  993     Week ago:  2,203     Year Ago:  2,479      

   Compared to last week:  Steer and heifer calves under 600 lbs firm, a few 
thin load lots 2.00 higher; feeder steers and heifers over 600 lbs steady in a 
light test.  Much needed rain fell over the trade area the prior two days, this 
limited receipts able to get to town.  Slaughter cows and bulls steady.  Trade 
fairly active.  Demand fairly good.  Bulk of supply Medium and Large 1-2 400-800 
lb feeder steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 15 percent, slaughter 
bulls less than 1 percent, replacement cows less than 1 percent, and feeders 85 
percent.  The feeder supply included 52 percent steers and 48 percent heifers.  
Near 56 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.  

   Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1 Calves:  few 300-400 lbs 185.00-189.00; pkg 
440 lbs thin 190.00, pkg 425 lbs 187.00, pkg 495 lbs 173.50; pkg 570 lbs 156.00; 
Yearlings:  650-700 lbs 141.00-143.00; lot 795 lbs 131.00; 900-965 lbs 120.50-
124.00.
   Medium and Large 1-2:  400-500 lbs 179.00-182.00; 500-600 lbs 150.00-157.00;
