Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for Thursday 01/19/2017

Cattle and Calves:  1,714     Last Week:  2,283      Year Ago:  1,895

   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers and steer calves firm, except 400-550 lb 
calves 2.00-4.00 higher.  Feeder heifers and heifer calves steady to weak in a light 
test, except 600-700 lb heifers firm to 2.00 higher.  Slaughter cows 1.00-2.00 
higher.  Slaughter bulls not well tested.  Trade and demand moderate to good.  Bulk 
of supply Medium and Large 1-2 350-950 lb feeder steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows 
15 percent, slaughter bulls not tested, replacement cows less than 1 percent, and 
feeders 85 percent.  The feeder supply included 58 percent steers and 42 percent 
heifers.  Near 31 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.

   Steers:  Medium and Large 1:  pkg 275-300 lbs 180.00, value added 202.00; 325-
350 lbs 172.00, value added 180.00-187.00; 425-450 lbs value added 180.00-189.00; 
450-500 lbs 162.00-165.00, value added 172.00-179.00; 500-550 lbs 150.00-159.00, 
fancy 172.00; 550-600 lbs 144.00-159.00; 625-650 lbs 137.00-146.00, fancy 148.00;
