Feeder Cattle narrative report for Thursday 08/25/16

Cattle and Calves:  1200     Week ago: 1208      Year Ago:  908          

   Compared to last week:  Most calf offerings on the day were either
weaned or had a good pre-conditioning shot program.  These steer and heifer
calves under 600 lbs were mostly firm while 600-700 lb prec-condtioned kinds
were 1.00-2.00 lower.  Limited offerings of 700-900 lb feeder steers and 
heifers coming off grass pasture were 1.00-2.00 lower.  Slaughter cows and
bulls 1.00-2.00 lower.  Bulk supply Medium and Large 1-2 425-900 lb feeder
steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 19 percent, slaughter bulls 2
percent, replacement cows less than 1 percent, and feeders 79 percent.  The
feeder supply included 75 percent steers and 25 percent heifers.  Near 58
percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.

   Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1  pkg 415 lbs value added 181.00, few
465-475 lbs value added 165.00-169.00; 500-550 lbs 165.00-166.00; 550-
600 lbs value added 153.00-156.00, load 590 lbs 149.00; 600-700 lbs value
added 142.00-147.00, load 635 lbs value added 149.00; 700-800 lbs 141.50-
142.00, pkg 755 lbs value added 139.00; 800-900 lbs 132.00-136.50.
   Medium and Large 1-2  500-600 lbs value added 156.00-161.00, pkg 570 lbs
