Feeder Cattle Narrative Report Thursday 05/12/2016

Cattle and Calves: 1347      Week ago:  943      Year Ago:  1378          

   Compared to last week:  In spite of the decline on the CME board feeder steers and 
heifers were firm with thin or gaunt kinds under 600 lbs 2.00-4.00 higher.  Slaughter 
cows and bulls 1.00-2.00 lower.  Trade was active and demand for summer grazers and 
load lots of feeders was good.  Bulk supply Medium and Large 1-2 350-850 lb feeder 
steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 18 percent, slaughter bulls less than 1 
percent, replacement cows less than 1 percent, and feeders 82 percent.  The feeder 
supply included 51 percent steers and 49 percent heifers.  Near 58 percent of the run 
weighed over 600 lbs.

   Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1:  350-400 lbs value added 237.00-238.00; 400-500 
lbs value added 202.00-206.00, pkg 425 lbs fleshy 192.00; 500-600 lbs 180.00-188.00; 
600-650 lbs 163.00-169.00; 700-750 lbs 148.00-151.00; pkg 875 lbs 134.00; lot 900 lbs 
126.00.
