Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for Thursday 10/22/2015

Cattle and Calves:  973       Week ago:  2,421       Year Ago:  3,358

   Compared to last week:  Prices for steer and heifer calves were mostly firm
with pre-conditioned or thin and gaunt packages under 600 lbs 3.00-5.00 higher.
There were no feeder steers or heifers on offer, however pre-conditioned steer
and heifer calves weighing over 600 lbs were 2.00 higher.  Slaughter cows
mostly 2.00-3.00 lower.  Slaughter bulls not well tested.  Trade and demand
moderate.  The trade area saw three to six inches of rainfall over the
past few days.  A large number of consigned receipts were unable to come to
town and buyer participation was somewhat dampened due to their own water-
soaked facilities.  Bulk of supply Medium and Large 1-2 350-750 lb feeder
steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 26 percent, slaughter bulls less
than 1 percent, bred cows and pairs less than 1 percent and feeders 74 percent.
The feeder supply included 60 percent steers and 40 percent heifers.  Near 25
percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
