Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for Thursday 04/23/2015

   Cattle and Calves: 1921        Week ago: 1907        Year Ago:  1382

   Compared to week ago:  Steer and heifer calves under 600 lbs mostly firm 
with a few thin and gaunt kinds 2.00 higher; steers and heifers over 600 lbs
1.00-2.00 higher.  Slaughter cows and bulls 1.00-2.00 higher.  Trade active.
Demand good.  Supply was mostly thin or gaunt pre-conditioned calves with a few
fleshy and several load lots of feeder steers and heifers over 600 lbs.
Offerings under 600 lbs were mostly plain with a few fancy.  Bulk of supply
Medium and Large 1-2 325-925 lb feeder steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows made
up 13 percent, slaughter bulls less than 1 percent, bred cows and pairs less
than 1 percent and feeders 87 percent.  The feeder supply included 63 percent
steers and 37 percent heifers.  Near 60 percent of the run weighed over 
600 lbs.
