Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for Thursday 04/16/2015

Cattle and Calves:  1907      Last Week:  2058      Last Year:  1335

   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers and heifers under 600 lbs 
mostly firm,  except several packages thin or gaunt kinds 2.00-3.00
higher; steers and heifers over 600 lbs steady to weak, instances 2.00
lower.  Slaughter cows 2.00-4.00 higher.  Slaughter bulls not well
tested.  Trade fairly active.  Demand fairly good.  Supply included
several packages of thin and gaunt pre-conditioned calves to go back
to grass and three large strings of 800-955 lb feeder steers.  Bulk of
supply Medium and Large 1-2 350-950 lb feeder steers and heifers.
Slaughter cows made up 9 percent, slaughter bulls less than 1 percent,
bred cows and pairs less than 1 percent and feeders 91 percent.  The
feeder supply included 75 percent steers and 25 percent heifers.  Near
60 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
