Cattle and Calves: 1843         Week ago: 1890      Year Ago: 1359           

   Compared to week ago:  Fancier and pre-conditioned feeder steers and heifers 
under 600 lbs firm to 1.00 higher; fleshy and plainer kinds steady to 2.00 
lower.  Feeder steers and heifers over 600 lbs firm.  Slaughter cows steady to 
1.00 lower; slaughter bulls firm.  Receipts included several packages of new 
crop calves and most of these were in moderate to thin condition with a few 
fleshy, one string of feeder steers in moderate to fleshy condition and 
slaughter cows in mostly thin flesh.  Trade and demand good on lighter weight 
thin calves and the string of yearling steers; moderate on plainer or fleshy 
offerings.  Bulk supply Medium and Large 1-2 350-975 lb feeder steers and 
heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 27 percent and slaughter bulls 2 percent, 
replacement cows less than 1 percent, and feeders 71 percent.  The feeder supply 
included 56 percent steers and 44 percent heifers.  Near 59 percent of the run 
weighed over 600 lbs.

187.00; few 400-500 lbs 162.00-166.00, pre-conditioned 174.00-178.00; 500-600
