Sheep and Goat Weighted Average for Monday, January 13, 2014

Sheep/Lamb Receipts: 1873   Last Monday: 2220   Year Ago: 2359 
Goat Receipts:       1044   Last Monday: 1260   Year Ago: 1847

***Report format change: Traditional markets refer to lambs that
are subjected to USDA carcass grading, and marketed through
mainstream outlets. Non-Traditional markets refer to lambs
destined for slaughter outside of what would be termed as
traditional markets. ***

   Sheep and Lambs: Compared to last week, Slaughter lambs
sold 10.00-20.00 higher on good demand. Slaughter ewes sold
mostly 10.00-20.00 higher compared to last week on good demand.
Slaughter supply consisted of 70 percent lambs, 26 percent
slaughter ewes, and 4 percent miscellaneous stock. All sheep
and lambs are destined for non-traditional markets. All sheep
and lambs are sold by the hundred weight, on actual weights.

   Slaughter Lambs: Non-Traditional Markets: Wooled & Shorn
Choice and Prime 2-3 60-80 lbs 200.00-217.00; 80-110 lbs
200.00-216.00; 110-130 lbs 196.00-206.00. Wooled and Shorn
Choice and Prime 3-4 40-60 lbs 237.00-285.00, hair sheep
222.00-268.00; 60-80 lbs hair sheep 227.00-248.00; 80-110 lbs
224.00-234.00, hair sheep 214.00-237.00; 110-130 lbs 214.00-
228.00; 168 lbs 216.00. Wooled and Shorn Good and Choice 1-3

   Slaughter Ewes: Good 2-3 Medium Flesh 100-120 lbs hair
sheep 120.00-138.00; 120-160 lbs 114.00-140.00, hair sheep
120.00-124.00; 160-200 lbs 112.00-118.00. Utility 1-2 Thin
Flesh 110-120 lbs 86.00-110.00; 120-160 lbs 94.00-112.00.  

   Slaughter Bucks: 110-120 lbs hair sheep 118.00-122.00;
120-150 lbs hair sheep 127.00-147.00; 160-200 lbs 92.00-
132.00; 200-250 lbs 78.00-106.00. 
                       
   Slaughter Goats: When compared to last week, slaughter kid
goats sold mostly 10.00-20.00 lower. Slaughter Nanny goats
sold mostly steady. Slaughter billies sold mostly steady.
Demand was moderate for all classes. A large supply of light
weight goats offered. Overall quality not as good as recent
weeks. Slaughter supply consisted of 45 percent Slaughter Kids,
47 percent Slaughter Nannies, and 8 percent bucks/billies and
whethers. All Goats are sold by the head on estimated weights.
          
    Slaughter Kids: Selection 1  40-60 lbs 130.00-165.00; 60-80
lbs 132.00-180.00; 80-100 lbs 177.00-185.00. Selection 2 40-60
lbs 100.00-132.00; 60-80 lbs 105.00-130.00; 80-100 lbs 165.00-
169.00. Selection 3 40-60 lbs 77.00-100.00.

    Slaughter Nannies/Does: Selection 1 90-125 lbs 165.00-210.00;
130-140 lbs 210.00-220.00. Selection 2 80-120 lbs 130.00-175.00.
Selection 3 70-80 lbs 115.00-125.00; 135 lbs 162.00.

    Slaughter Bucks/Billies: Selection 1 120-150 lbs 230.00-
365.00. Selection 2 90-120 lbs 182.00-220.00; 110-135 lbs
170.00-220.00.
  
    Slaughter Whethers: Selection 1 80-100 lbs 245.00-260.00;
