Sheep and Goat Weighted Average for Monday, February 25, 2013

Sheep/Lamb Receipts: 1810     Last Monday: 1306    Year Ago:  985

subjected to USDA carcass grading, and marketed through mainstream outlets. 
Non-Traditional markets refer to lambs destined for slaughter outside of
what would be termed as traditional markets. ***

   Sheep and Lambs: When compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold
mostly 20.00-30.00 higher on good demand. Slaughter ewes traded mostly
steady on good demand. Slaughter supply consisted of 78 percent lambs,
19 percent slaughter ewes, and 3 percent miscellaneous stock. All sheep
and lambs are destined for non-traditional markets. All sheep and lambs
are sold by the hundred weight,on actual weights.

   Slaughter Lambs: Non-Traditional Markets: Wooled & Shorn Choice and
Prime 2-3 50-60 lbs 202.00-215.00, hair sheep 207.00-215.00; 60-70 lbs
207.00-232.00, hair sheep 190.00-224.00; 70-80 lbs 187.00-217.00, hair
sheep 186.00-215.00; 80-90 lbs 185.00-212.00, hair sheep 186.00-196.00;
90-110 lbs 186.00-198.00, hair sheep 185.00-195.00; 110-120 lbs 168.00-
192.00. Wooled and Shorn Choice and Prime 3-4 40-50 lbs 265.00-295.00,
hair sheep 260.00-270.00; 50-60 lbs 217.00-238.00, hair sheep 245.00-
255.00; 60-70 lbs 225.00-227.00, hair sheep 225.00-230.00. Wooled and
Shorn Good and Choice 1-3 60-70 lbs 185.00-195.00; 70-80 lbs hair sheep
180.00-190.00; 80-90 lbs 170.00-180.00, hair sheep 180.00-182.00; 90-

   Slaughter Ewes: Good 2-3 Medium Flesh 120-150 lbs 78.00-82.00, hair
sheep 84.00-92.00; 160-200 lbs 50.00-73.00. Utility 1-2 Thin Flesh
90-110 lbs 60.00-76.00; 110-160 lbs 54.00-74.00; 160-200 lbs 50.00-
73.00. 

   Slaughter Bucks: 120-150 lbs 80.00-88.00; 180-200 lbs 62.00-70.00;
200-250 lbs 70.00-74.00. 
                       
   Slaughter Goats: When compared to last week, slaughter kid goats
sold mostly steady to 10.00 higher compared last week. Nanny goats
sold steady to 10.00 lower compared last week. Slaughter billies not
enough for a market test. Demand was good for all classes. Slaughter
supply consisted of 40 percent Slaughter Kids, 40 percent Slaughter
Nannies, and 20 percent bucks/billies and wethers. All Goats are
sold by the head on estimated weights.
          
    Slaughter Kids: Selection 1  40-50 lbs 95.00-125.00; 60-80 lbs
150.00-170.00; 80-90 lbs 160.00-164.00; 120 lbs 170.00. Selection 2
50-60 lbs 105.00-110.00; 60-70 lbs 130.00-140.00; 70-80 lbs 120.00-
150.00; 80-90 lbs 112.00-116.00. Selection 3 80-90 lbs 85.00-89.00.   

    Slaughter Nannies/Does: Selection 1 110-120 lbs 157.00-177.00;
130-150 lbs 145.00-187.00. Selection 2  100-120 lbs 115.00-150.00;
120-130 lbs 135.00-145.00.

    Slaughter Bucks/Billies: Selection 2  120-130 lbs 164.00-166.00.
   
    Slaughter Wethers: Selection 1 70-100 lbs 162.00-187.00; 100-140
lbs 220.00-285.00. Selection 2 80-120 lbs 155.00-170.00.
