Compared to last week, Slaughter steers sold 2.00-3.00 lower. Demand was
light. High dressing Lean Steers are steers sold primarily to the ethnic
market and most are extremely lean. Those steers sold 2.00-3.00 lower on
light demand. Slaughter Holstein steers not tested. Slaughter Heifers not
tested last week so no trend reported. Slaughter cows not reported last week
due to the holiday work schedule so no trend but a weak undertone noted.
Slaughter bulls sold 7.00-8.00 lower. The ethnic buyers were not active in
the market making some bulls sharply lower. Demand was very light. Cattle
supplies included 132 slaughter steers; 77 heifers; 300 cows; 81 bulls and
63 feeder cattle. All prices quoted per cwt.
Slaughter Steers: High Choice and Prime 3-4 1300-1600 lbs 109.50-110.50.
Choice 2-3 1250-1600 lbs 105.00-108.00. Select 1-2 1250-1600 lbs 102.00-
105.50. High Dressing Lean Steers 105.00-125.50.
Slaughter Holstein Steers: Not tested.
Slaughter Heifers: High Choice and Prime 3-4 1300-1400 lbs few 107.00-
108.50.
