We use data from various third party services.  All of them have flaws when looked at individually but when taken in aggregate, the numbers begin to become a bit more accurate.   These rankings are only as accurate as the source data.  They are by no means perfect but a much less biased sourced of information than unsubstantiated claims of traffic on the individual websites.  We developed the formula that weights third party data by using the known statistics for seven different websites that receive at least 500,000 page views per month. 

These rankings only take visitors into account, not clicks.  For example, we know that Showcattle.com does about ten times as much traffic as Cattle.com based only on clicks (we own both of them).  However, that is due to the fact that Showcattle.com is an online game that burns through clicks.  Cattle.com actually has more visitors which the tracking service statistics bear out.
