Out of the Mouth of Babes

I took our eight-year-old to Aggiefest on Saturday.  It was going to be the first free Saturday we had in several months so of course I had to find something to fill it.  A&M was playing Mississippi State that day anyway so there wasn't going to be a big game worth watching.

He’s young and doesn’t spend much time around livestock so we don’t expect much from him for now but he did bad.

Really bad.  105th out of 118 bad.

Seven of the 13 kids he beat had classes they didn’t mark right and took zeros.

One of the kids that BEAT him had a class that wasn’t marked right and they took a zero.

One of the kids that beat him had TWO classes that weren’t marked right.

In his defense, I haven’t worked with him all that much, largely because we just got done with fall ball a week ago.  His did have a practices this week and despite their best intentions…

But out of the mouth of babes comes sometimes comes deep insight.

He was going over reasons from a different set of animals and came to some collegiate judging puffery modern terminology in a class critique.

Luke: Daddy, what does that even mean?

Me: It just means #2 had more muscle.

Luke: Oh.

Luke: Well, why doesn’t the judge just say that?
