What's wrong with your calves?

I don’t like criticizing other people’s cattle.  It’s a pretty deeply held rule I hold for this site and it’s one way I can tell with a fair bit of certainty that somebody isn’t smart enough to read this site when they get mad at me.  If they say I was speaking poorly of one of their calves or bulls I know they either don’t know how to read or they just heard somebody tell them what they thought I said.

That being said……….you Midwestern boys have an issue.

Why do so many of your cattle go downhill?

It’s an epidemic with your calves.  Your photographers might as well build a macro into Adobe to straighten the toplines on your sale pics.  If they have to do it so blatantly so often, it’s not just because they like doing it, it’s because they have to in order to level your calves out.

MAYBE, just maybe, it’s time to stop blaming the photographers for that stupidity and start asking why the guys who have to have their calves leveled out with a camera make the breeding choices they do if people value a level topline.
