Compared to last week, steers under 700 lbs sold 2.00 to 6.00 lower while
there bigger brothers sold 1.00 to 4.00 higher. Heifers sold unevenly steady.
Demand was moderate to good. Cattlemen continue to trim their herds with
several auctions selling cow/calf pairs and bred cows. Many of the ?aged?
pairs are split with the cows going to slaughter and calves being sexed and
selling in groups on a per head basis. Slaughter steers and heifers sold
steady to 1.00 lower in Nebraska with live sales from 125.00-126.50 and
dressed sales 201.00-202.00. Cattle on Feed for May 97 percent; Placed 115
percent and Marketed 102 percent. Out of this week?s volume steers comprised
of 53 percent of the run, heifers 45 percent with the balance on bull calves
with 79 percent of the run over 600 lbs.
