Cattle and Calf Auction Report for Thursday, October 27, 2016

Compared to last week, slaughter steers sold mostly steady to 2.00
higher. High dressing Lean Steers are steers are sold primarily to the
ethnic market and most are extremely lean. Those steers sold 3.00-4.00
higher. Slaughter Holstein steers sold 1.00-3.00 higher. Slaughter
heifers not tested last week so no comparison. Slaughter cows sold
steady to 1.00 higher with the exception of Lean cows which sold 5.00-
6.00 higher. Demand was good. Slaughter bulls sold sharply higher on a
light test of better quality supplies. Cattle supplies included
239 steers; 57 heifers; 342 cows; 27 bulls; and 8 feeder calves.

Slaughter Steers: High Choice and Prime 3-4 1200-1600 lbs 100.00-
104.50, few to 107.00. Choice 2-3 1200-1600 lbs 96.00-102.50. Select 1-
2 1150-1650 lbs 91.00-96.00. High Dressing Lean Steers 1200-1700 lbs
98.00-108.00, individual 111.00.

96.00. Choice 2-3 1450-1750 lbs 85.00-90.00. Select 1-2 1350-1750 lbs

Return to Farm Holstein Calves: Compared to last week, Holstein bull
calves sold 10.00-30.00 lower with the exception of calves weighing under
90 lbs which showed some firmness. Holstein heifer calves not trended due
to limited comparable receipts but a weak undertone was noted. Demand was
moderate. Ag Market News LLC under the USDA-QSA-LMAR program graded 423
head for Thursday's sale. All calves are sold by the cwt.
Graded Holstein Bull Calves: Number 1 120-128 lbs 75.00; 94-118 lbs
90.00-101.00; 90-92 lbs 72.00. Number 2 94-128 lbs 75.00-88.00; 80-92 lbs
60.00-70.00. Number 3 90-130 lbs 65.00-65.00; 80-88 lbs 55.00-55.00; 72-
78 lbs 40.00. Utility 80-110 lbs 40.00-45.00; 60-78 lbs 20.00.
Holstein Heifer Calves: Number 1 80-120 lbs 170.00-190.00. Number 2
80-120 lbs 140.00-170.00. Number 3 70-90 lbs 75.00-140.00. Utility/Non-
tubing 60-90 lbs 20.00-60.00.
