When compared to last Thursday's market, a light supply of slaughter
steers sold 3.00 higher with very good demand. The slaughter cow market
followed suit advancing in the range of 3.00-4.00 higher. Cow supplies were
also light. Cattle supply consisted of 212 slaughter steers; 86 slaughter
heifers; 408 slaughter cows; 24 slaughter bulls; and 13 feeder cattle. All
prices per cwt.
Slaughter Steers: High Choice and Prime 3-4 1350-1600 lbs 172.50-175.50.
Choice 2-3 1250-1550 lbs 170.50-173.50, few low dress 168.00-170.00. Select
2-3 1200-1500 lbs 161.00-168.00.
Slaughter Holsteins: High Choice and Prime 3-4 1400-1650 lbs
159.00-164.50. Choice 2-3 1400-1700 lbs 147.00-151.00. Select 2-3 1400-
1600 lbs 141.00-147.00.
Slaughter Heifers: High Choice and Prime 3-4 1250-1450 lbs 171.00-174.00.

Slaughter Bulls: Yield Grade 1 1300-2500 lbs 130.00-135.00.
Return to Farm Holstein Calves: when compared to last Thursday's sale,
Holstein bull calves sold sharply lower, trending 100.00/cwt lower for most
of the graded calves. Demand was moderate, but buyers took extra caution on
account of frigid temperatures and the possibility of calves becoming
hypothermic or receiving frost bite. Heifers traded weak on a light supply.
Ag Market News LLC under the USDA-QSA-LMAR program graded 396 head for
Thursday's sale. All calves are sold by the cwt.
Graded Holstein Bull Calves: Number 1 120-128 lbs 270.00; 94-118 lbs
315.00-345.00. Number 2 120-128 lbs 290.00; 98-118 lbs 327.00-340.00; 88-96
lbs 355.00-367.00; 80-86 lbs 310.00. Number 3 80-130 lbs 230.00-277.00; 72-
78 lbs 100.00. Utility 60-110 lbs 20.00-50.00.
Holstein Heifers: Number 1 80-100 lbs 270.00-350.00. Number 2 80-110 lbs
100.00-200.00. Utility/Non tubing 70-100 lbs 35.00-70.00.
