Compared to last Thursday's sale, Slaughter steers sold sharply higher
advancing up to 10.00/cwt. Slaughter Holsteins sold sharply higher compared
to a light test last week. Not enough Slaughter heifers for a market test but
a higher undertone noted. Demand was very good for all classes. Slaughter
cows sold mostly steady to 1.00 higher. Demand was moderate. Cattle supplies
included 248 slaughter steers; 59 heifers; 320 cows; 40 bulls; and 10 feeder
calves. All prices per cwt.
Slaughter Steers: High Choice and Prime 3-4 1250-1600 lbs mostly 171.00-
175.00, few to 177.00. Choice 2-3 1300-1650 lbs 166.00-170.00. Select 1-3
1200-1700 lbs 160.00-165.00.
Slaughter Holsteins: High Choice and Prime 3-4 1350-1650 lbs 163.00-
168.00, few to 169.50. Choice 2-3 1300-1700 lbs 156.00-162.00. Select 1-2
1350-1750 lbs 148.00-155.00.
Slaughter Heifers: High Choice and Prime 3-4 1200-1450 lbs 168.50-172.00.

Return to Farm Holstein Calves: Compared to last week Holstein bull calves
sold 20.00-40.00 lower coming off the firm rallies from the past couple
weeks. Demand remains very good. Heifers sold weak on a light test and lower
quality offerings. Ag Market News LLC under the USDA-QSA-LMAR program graded
452 head for Thursday's sale. All calves are sold by the cwt.
