Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 3/28/2017

   Compared to last week, steers and a light test of heifers sold mostly
steady, however spots 3.00-5.00 lower on the upper end of the price ranges
on calves under 700 lbs. Overall quality wasn?t as attractive as last week.
Demand was good for steers and a few packages of thin heifers, moderate to
light for heifers carrying much flesh. A good portion of the consignments
were new crop calves either un-weaned or fleshy. Supply was moderate. The
feeder offering consisted of near 63 percent steers and bulls, 37 percent
heifers with 56 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls totaled 14 percent of
the offering. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady.
