Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 10/25/2016

Receipts:  1075    Week Ago:  1304    Year Ago:  2163

   Compared to last week, steer calves under 650 lbs and heifer
calves under 550 lbs sold 5.00-10.00 higher. No good comparisons
to the strings of true yearlings last week. Most of the heavier
feeders were either calves or carrying some excess flesh and sold
in smaller drafts. Demand was good on a more active market. Gains
on the board and a lower than expected placements number in the
recent cattle on feed report have restored some confidence in the
market. Supply was light. The feeder offering consisted of near
68 percent steers and bulls and 32 percent heifers with 48 percent
over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls totaled 15 percent of the offering.   
Slaughter cows sold steady to 1.00 lower.
