Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 6/21/2016

   Compared to last week, steer calves under 600 lbs sold mostly steady
to 5.00 lower with spots 10.00 lower after last week?s sharply lower
trade, 600-700 lbs 7.00-15.00 lower and heavier weights had a lower
undertone. Heifer calves traded 7.00-15.00 lower with spots 20.00 lower,
too few comparisons of yearlings. Supply and demand was light to moderate.
The cattle market has had a tough couple of weeks with sharply lower
futures and fed cattle prices, higher corn and the recent heat wave that
looks like it?s going to be around for a while. However, nearby corn was
down over twenty cents at close today and feeders and live cattle were in
the green. The feeder offering consisted of near 56 percent steers and
bulls and 44 percent heifers with 35 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls 3
totaled 10 percent of the offering. Slaughter cows sold firm to 2.00 higher.
