Kingsville ? Kingsville Livestock Auction
Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 5/17/2016
Receipts: 2570 Week Ago: 1719 Year Ago: 2171
Compared to last week, steer calves under 550 lbs sold 2.00-8.00
higher, 550-700 lbs uneven from 4.00 lower to 4.00 higher after
last week?s sharply higher market for these weights. Yearling
steers and heifers sold with a firm to higher undertone. Heifers
under 650 lbs sold steady to 5.00 higher. Quality ran deep through
the feeder offering with several load and part load lots of
reputation yearlings. Demand was good to very good particularly
for the yearlings which has been fueled by recent gains for
fed cattle and sharply higher boxed beef prices. Supply moderate
to heavy. Near 56 percent steers, 42 percent heifers and 2 percent
feeder bulls with 39 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls totaled
12 percent of the offering. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00
higher with a good percentage of high dressing cows.
