Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 3/29/2016

Receipts:  1639    Week Ago:  2069    Year Ago:  2230

   Compared to last week, feeders sold uneven; steers under 450 lbs
traded steady to 10.00 higher; all other weights of steers and heifers
under 600 lbs traded 2.00-7.00 lower with spots 9.00-12.00 lower on
some of the lighter weight heifers. Heifers over 600 lbs traded steady
to 5.00 higher. The majority of the offering was new crop calves that
were carrying some extra flesh with a few hard weaned yearlings sprinkled
in. Some were un-weaned with that soft milk look and several strings
were weaned and had been grain fed. Demand moderate with a light to
moderate supply. Near 56 percent steers and bulls and 44 percent heifers
with 51 percent over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls were 16 percent of the
offering. Slaughter cows were 2.00-4.00 higher.
