Feeder cattle narrative report for Thursday 06/23/2016

Cattle and Calves:  1317      Week ago:  1621      Year Ago:  930

   Compared to week ago:  A few packages of pre-conditioned steer and heifer 
calves under 600 lbs were steady, but buyers were slow to take hold of any 
right off their mothers due to the onset of hot weather and those calves 
sold 2.00-4.00 lower.  Feeder steers and heifers over 600 lbs firm to 2.00 
higher.  Slaughter cows and bulls 2.00-3.00 higher.  Trade and demand 
moderate to good.  Bulk supply Medium and Large 1-2 450-900 lb feeder steers 
and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 30 percent, slaughter bulls less than 1 
percent, replacement cows less than 1 percent, and feeders 70 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 57 percent steers and 43 percent heifers.  Near 88 
percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.

   Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1:  pkg 450 lbs fleshy 160.00; 600-650 lbs 
calves 143.00-146.00, load 625 lbs 150.50; pkg 700 lbs 144.50, lot 725 lbs 
147.50, load 795 lbs 139.75.
