Feeder Cattle Narrative Report Thursday 04/21/2016

Cattle and Calves:  659       Week ago: 1,188       Year Ago:  1,921

   Compared to week ago:  Receipts on offer were limited due to recent rains in
the trade area.  Some receipts were simply unable to get to town over muddy 
roads.  There was no market test on feeder steers and heifers due to limited 
receipts but a firm undertone noted on calves under 500 lbs.  Receipts on offer 
were mostly thin fleshed.  Slaughter cows and bulls steady.  Trade and demand 
moderate.  Bulk of supply Medium and Large 1-2 350-950 lb feeder steers and
heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 22 percent, slaughter bulls less than 1 
percent, bred cows and pairs less than 1 percent and feeders 78 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 59 percent steers and 34 percent heifers.  Near 59 
percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
