Cattleman's Livestock Auction - Dalhart, TX - Thursday - 06/13/13

Cattle and Calves:   1396         Week ago: 1412     Year Ago: 1978           

   Compared to week ago:  Yearling type Feeder steers and heifers steady to firm 
and steer and heifer calves steady to weak.  Slaughter cows and bulls generally 
steady. Several consignments in thin to very thin condition as the extreme 
drought conditions continue in many areas. Many cattle producers are forced to 
wean calves earlier than usual and sell and in some cases sell cows also as 
grass and grazing conditions deteriorate in various areas.  Trade and demand 
moderate to good on thin-fleshed offerings with a few new-crop calves and fleshy 
offering only light to moderate demand.  Bulk supply Medium and Large 1-2 400-
800 lb feeder steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 18 percent and 
slaughter bulls 1 percent, replacement cows 1 percent, and feeders 80 percent. 
The feeder supply included 33 percent steers and 67 percent heifers.  Near 77 
percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.

   Steers:  Medium and Large 1 few 318 lbs 176.00; few 440-460 lbs 159.00-
165.00; few 520 lbs 155.00; 650-700 lbs 139.50-143.00, part load 645 lb calves 
136.00; 700-775 lbs 137.00-137.50, few 723 lbs 139.50, few 721 lb calves 134.00; 
few 808 lbs 135.00. 
  Medium and Large 1-2 few 455 lbs 147.00; few 540-575 lbs 149.00-151.00, few 
588 lb fleshy 136.00; 600-660 lbs 136.00-141.00, part load 621 lb thin fleshed 
148.00; 700-800 lbs 131.00-135.00, few 752 lb thin fleshed 138.00; few 813 lbs 
132.00.
