Cattleman's Livestock Auction - Dalhart, TX - Thursday - 05/30/13

Cattle and Calves:  990         Week ago: 1495      Year Ago: 3800           

   Compared to week ago:  Feeder steers and heifers under 600 lbs 2.00-4.00 
lower in a limited test.  Feeder steers over 600 lbs firm to 2.00 higher, 
heifers over 600 lbs not well tested.  Slaughter cows and bulls weak to 2.00 
lower.  Receipts included a few packages of new crop, lighter weight calves, 
their mothers destined for slaughter and a few loads of feeder steers.  A few of 
the calves were weaned or had pre-weaning shots.  Trade and demand mostly 
moderate on unweaned new crop calves and slaughter cows and bulls to good on the 
few loads of yearling steers on offer.  Bulk supply Medium and Large 1-2 250-800 
lb feeder steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 29 percent and slaughter 
bulls 2 percent, replacement cows 8 percent, and feeders 61 percent.  The feeder 
supply included 66 percent steers and 34 percent heifers.  Near 45 percent of 
the run weighed over 600 lbs.

   Steers:  Medium and Large 1 few 200-300 lbs 173.00-177.00, pre-conditioned 
200.00-208.00; few 350-400 lbs fleshy 161.00-169.00; three pkgs 450-500 lbs 
153.00-161.00; 500-600 lbs 148.00-155.00; few 656 lbs 143.50; 700-725 lbs 
136.00-138.50, load 796 lbs 130.50; few 814 lbs 131.00; few 900-925 lbs 120.00-
124.00.
  Medium and Large 1-2 few 400-500 lbs fleshy 140.00-146.00; few 500-560 lbs 
141.00-144.00; few 847 lbs 125.00.
  Medium and Large 2 few 500-550 lbs 135.00-136.00; few 623 lbs 138.00; few 700-
