Cattleman's Livestock Auction - Dalhart, TX - Thursday - 03/28/13

Cattle and Calves: 2690     Week ago: 1787      Year Ago: 2696           

   Compared to week ago:  Feeder steers under 600 lbs firm to 4.00 higher; 
heifers under 600 lbs 8.00-10.00 higher.  Feeder steers and heifers 600-800 lbs 
steady to 2.00 higher, over 800 lbs steady.  Buyers showed strong positive 
response to the futures markets firm upward jump on receipts offered that were 
mostly attractive.  Slaughter cows and bulls 3.00-4.00 higher.  Trade active.  
Demand good.  Bulk supply Medium and Large 1-2 350-950 lb feeder steers and 
heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 6 percent and slaughter bulls less than 1 
percent, replacement cows less than 1 percent, and feeders 94 percent.  The 
feeder supply included 45 percent steers and 55 percent heifers.  Near 57 
percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.

   Steers:  Medium and Large 1  300-400 lbs pre-conditioned 203.00-207.00; 400-
500 lbs 169.00-173.00, few age and source verified 180.00-189.00; 500-600 lbs 
156.00-163.00, few age and source verified 176.00-177.00; 600-650 lbs thin 
151.00-157.00; 675-700 lbs 143.00-145.00; 700-800 lbs 140.50-144.00; few 800-825 
lbs 134.00-137.00; 850-900 lbs fleshy 124.25-128.75; 900-950 lbs 121.00-124.00.
