Cattleman's Livestock Auction - Dalhart, TX - Thursday - 01/24/13

Cattle and Calves: 1778     Week ago:  1483         Year Ago: 2443           

   Compared to week ago:  Feeder steers and heifers mostly steady except 600-700 
lb heifers 2.00 lower.  Slaughter cows with more fill were steady; high dressing 
cows 2.00-3.00 higher.  Slaughter bulls steady.  Trade and demand moderate to 
good.  Buyers continue to show good interest in summer grazing cattle in spite 
of continued lack of moisture across the trade area.  Body condition on receipts 
mostly moderate flesh with a few thin and a few fleshy.  Bulk supply Medium and 
Large 1-2 250-950 lb feeder steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 28 
percent, slaughter bulls less than 1 percent, replacement cows less than 1 
percent, and feeders 72 percent.  The feeder supply included 68 percent steers 
and 32 percent heifers.  Near 57 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.

lbs pre-conditioned 231.00; 400-500 lbs 191.00-198.00; 500-550 lbs 174.00-

lbs fleshy 150.00; 600-700 lbs 148.50-151.00, few 615 lbs calves 145.00; 700-800 
lbs 144.00-147.50, few 718 lbs 149.00; 800-900 lbs 139.00-141.50; few 932 lbs
