National Slaughter Cattle Summary - Week Ending May 17, 2013
Compared to last week: Slaughter cattle sold steady to 1.00 lower.
Dressed sales in Nebraska sold mostly 2.00-4.00 lower. Cattle futures
steadily declined this week. Boxed beef prices Friday noon averaged
200.74 up 2.65 from last Friday. The Choice/Select spread is at 16.44.
Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through
Friday noon totaled about 12,500 head. Last week's total head count
was 79,038.

Live Basis: Steers and Heifers
35-80 Percent Choice, 1200-1400 lbs: 124.00-126.00
Dressed Basis: Steers and Heifers: 200.00
South Plains Direct Markets:
Live Basis: Steers and Heifers
35-65 percent Choice, 1100-1400 lbs: 124.50-125.00
Slaughter Cows and Bulls (Average Yielding Prices):
Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold mostly
steady.
USDA's Cutter cow carcass cut-out value Friday morning was 160.37
up .17 from last Friday.
