Kansas Direct Feeder Cattle Summary
Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 06/14/2013
Receipts: 3770 Last Week: 5696 Year Ago: 5208
Compared with last week: Steers firm; Heifers firm to 1.00 higher in a very
limited test. Some rain fell around Dodge City on Saturday, varying amounts of
less than half an inch. Far western Ks again was not on the receiving end.
Eastern areas had beneficial amounts. Tuesday temps reached over 100 degrees
and wind speeds from 30-40 mph with higher gusts over 52 mph. Hot winds again
are blowing over the area on Friday continuing the already stressed conditions
prevailing in western Kansas due to the extreme drought. Sales confirmed on
1869 steers and 1901 heifers and no calves for a total of 3770 head compared
with 5696 last week and 5208 last year. Volume includes 100 percent 600 lbs and
over, with 19 percent contracts. Feeder supply 50 percent steers and 50 percent
heifers. Unless otherwise stated prices are FOB weighing points with 2-3 percent
shrink or equivalent and a 5-10 cent slide on calves and a 3-6 cent slide on
yearlings from base weights.
Steers: Medium and Large 1 800-850 lbs 133.00-135.00; 900 lbs 124.00; 973 lbs
122.00; Medium and Large 1-2 850-875 lbs 128.00-129.00.
Heifers: Medium and Large 1 700-750 lbs 128.00-130.00; 750-775 lbs 128.00-
130.00; Contracts: Aug 725 lbs 135.25; Sep 650 lbs 143.15; 700 lbs 139.25;
Medium and Large 1-2 Aug 775 lbs 124.00; Delivered Basis: Oct 700 lbs 135.00.
