Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers sold 1.00-4.00 higher with
instances up to 7.00 higher on limited comparable sales. Trade activity and
demand were good. Bulk of the trade consisted of attractive quality steers
weighing 650-800 lbs. Summer has officially kicked off this week with
temperatures in the triple digits. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady
to 1.00 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 9 percent, less than 1 percent
replacements and 91 percent feeders. Feeder supply included 73 percent steers
and bulls, 27 percent heifers. Approximately 68 percent of the run weighed over
600 lbs.
