Slaughter Sheep: Compared to last week, lambs sold mostly steady despite
a very heavy supply. Buyers paid higher premiums for uniform groups of lamb
over 20 head. Ewes sold mostly steady with some firmness noted in younger
ewes. Bucks sold mostly steady to firm on a light test. Demand was very
good for the upcoming Eid al-Adha Holiday beginning September 12th . Supply
consisted of 88 percent Slaughter Lambs, 11 percent Slaughter Ewes, and 1
percent Slaughter Bucks. All sheep are sold by the hundred weight.

Slaughter Goats: Market test based on limited sample due to shortened
federal holiday schedule. Report reflects approximately the first half
of the goat sale. Compared to last week, buyers continue to fill orders
for the Eid al-Adha Holiday beginning September 12th. Slaughter kids sold
mostly steady to 20.00 lower on a very heavy supply and very good demand.
Slaughter nannies sold mostly steady to 10.00 higher. Slaughter bucks
sold mostly steady to 10.00 lower. Slaughter wethers sold steady to firm
on a light test. Demand was good for all classes. Supply consisted of 70
percent Slaughter Kids, 20 percent Slaughter Nannies, and 9 percent bucks/
billies and wethers. All goats are sold by the head on estimated weights.
