subjected to USDA carcass grading, and marketed through mainstream
outlets. Non-Traditional markets refer to lambs destined for slaughter
outside of what would be termed as traditional markets. ***
Compared to last week, slaughter lambs and ewes sold unevenly steady.
Prices were firm at the start of the sale and weakened as buyers filled
their loads. Demand was good. Price fluctuations throughout the sale
resulted in larger than typical price spreads. This report does not
include mixed lots of sheep and lambs. Slaughter supply consisted of
89 percent lambs, 11 percent slaughter ewes and bucks. All sheep and
lambs are destined for non-traditional markets. All sheep and lambs are
sold by the hundred weight, on actual weights.
