subjected to USDA carcass grading, and marketed through mainstream outlets.
Non-Traditional markets refer to lambs destined for slaughter outside of what
would be termed as traditional markets. ***
Sheep and Lambs: Compared to last week, Slaughter lambs and ewes sold
mostly 10.00 lower with moderate demand. Slaughter supply consisted of 70
percent lambs, 28 percent slaughter ewes and the remaining 2 percent
slaughter bucks. All sheep and lambs are destined for non-traditional
markets. All sheep and lambs are sold by the hundred weight, on actual
weights.
Slaughter Lambs: Non-Traditional Markets: Wooled & Shorn Choice and Prime
2-3 60-80 lbs 200.00-226.00; 80-110 lbs 206.00-220.00. Wooled and Shorn
Choice 2-3 40-60 lbs 162.00-202.00; 60-80 lbs 182.00-200.00; 80-100 lbs
176.00-198.00.
Slaughter Ewes: Good 2-3 Medium Flesh 80-120 lbs 52.00-55.00; 120-160 lbs
50.00-72.00; 160-200 lbs 64.00-68.00; 200-300 lbs 56.00-72.00. Utility 1-2
Thin Flesh 80-120 lbs 58.00; 120-160 lbs 40.00-64.00. Cull 1 Very Thin
Fleshed 80-120 lbs 40.00; 120-160 lbs 40.00-56.00.
Slaughter Bucks: 200-300 lbs 50.00-77.00.
Slaughter Goats: When compared to last week, slaughter kids sold 5.00-
15.00 higher with moderate demand. Nannies traded mostly 5.00-10.00 lower.
Reported slaughter supply consisted of 66 percent Slaughter Kids, 20 percent
Slaughter Nannies, and 14 percent bucks/billies and whethers. All Goats are
sold by the head on estimated weights.
Slaughter Kids: Selection 1 20-40 lbs 105.00-135.00; 40-60 lbs 145.00-
177.00; 60-80 lbs 175.00-185.00; 80-100 lbs 232.00-265.00 (Whethers); 100-120
lbs 267.00-270.00 (Whethers). Selection 2 20-40 lbs 55.00-98.00; 40-60 lbs
90.00-162.00; 60-80 lbs 150.00-192.00; 70-80 lbs 220.00-230.00 (Whethers).
