Sheep and Goat Weighted Average for Monday, March 31, 2014

Sheep/Lamb Receipts: 1865   Last Monday: 1770   Year Ago: 1222

are subjected to USDA carcass grading, and marketed through
mainstream outlets. Non-Traditional markets refer to lambs
destined for slaughter outside of what would be termed as
traditional markets. ***

   Sheep and Lambs: Compared to last week, Slaughter lambs
traded mostly 10.00-20.00 higher. Slaughter ewes traded
mostly 10.00-20.00 lower. Slaughter supply consisted of
70 percent lambs, 24 percent slaughter ewes, and 6 percent
miscellaneous stock. All sheep and lambs are destined for
non-traditional markets. All sheep and lambs are sold by the
hundred weight, on actual weights.

   Slaughter Lambs: Non-Traditional Markets: Wooled & Shorn
Choice and Prime 2-3 40-60 lbs hair sheep 220.00-245.00;
60-80 lbs hair sheep 207.00-227.00; 80-110 lbs 190.00-224.00,
hair sheep 180.00-208.00; 110-150 lbs 162.00-188.00. Wooled
and Shorn Choice and Prime 3-4 40-60 lbs 224.00-250.00, hair
sheep 220.00-245.00; 60-80 lbs 230.00-257.00; 80-100 lbs
230.00-254.00. Wooled and Shorn Good and Choice 1-3 50-60 lbs
200.00-220.00, hair sheep 170.00-202.00; 60-80 lbs 175.00-

   Slaughter Ewes: Good 2-3 Medium Flesh 90-120 lbs hair

160-200 lbs 64.00-76.00; 200-240 lbs 74.00-78.00. Cull 1-2
110-150 lbs 50.00-66.00; 120-150 lbs hair sheep 45.00-68.00;
150-210 lbs 40.00-70.00.  

   Slaughter Bucks: 110-120 lbs 52.00-56.00; 140-190 lbs hair
sheep 70.00-86.00; 170-200 lbs 66.00-90.00; 200-250 lbs
64.00-84.00. 
                       
   Slaughter Goats: When compared to last week, slaughter kid
goats sold mostly weak on a very light test. Slaughter Nanny
goats sold mostly steady. Slaughter Billies sold mostly 10.00-
20.00 lower. Demand was moderate for all classes. Overall
quality not as good as previous week.  Quality has been
consistently going down. Slaughter supply consisted of
39 percent Slaughter Kids, 49 percent Slaughter Nannies, and
12 percent bucks/billies and whethers. All Goatsare sold by
the head on estimated weights.
          
    Slaughter Kids: Selection 1  40-60 lbs 155.00-170.00; 60-
80 lbs 150.00-165.00; 80-90 lbs 170.00-176.00. Selection 2
40-60 lbs 112.00-150.00; 60-80 lbs 112.00-146.00; 80-100 lbs
110.00-158.00. Selection 3 40-60 lbs 80.00-107.00; 60-80 lbs
70.00-100.00.

    Slaughter Nannies/Does: Selection 1 110-130 lbs 142.00-
180.00; 130-160 lbs 140.00-185.00. Selection 2 100-130 lbs
