Sheep and Goat Weighted Average for Monday, April 29, 2013

Sheep/Lamb Receipts: 2989    Last Monday: 3748    Year Ago: 1769

***Report format change: Traditional markets refer to lambs that are 
subjected to USDA carcass grading, and marketed through mainstream
outlets. Non-Traditional markets refer to lambs destined for slaughter
outside of what would be termed as traditional markets. ***

   Sheep and Lambs: When compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold
mostly 40.00-50.00 higher compared last week. Slaughter ewes traded
10.00-20.00 higher compared to last week. Demand was good for all
classes. Slaughter supply consisted of 80 percent lambs, 15 percent
slaughter ewes, and 5 percent miscellaneous stock. All sheep and lambs
are destined for non-traditional markets. All sheep and lambs are sold
by the hundred weight,on actual weights.

   Slaughter Lambs: Non-Traditional Markets: Wooled & Shorn
Choice and Prime 2-3 40-60 lbs 195.00-230.00, hair sheep 187.00-
228.00; 60-80 lbs 182.00-215.00, hair sheep 180.00-202.00; 80-90
lbs 170.00-182.00, hair sheep 170.00-180.00; 90-110 lbs 168.00-
182.00. Wooled and Shorn Choice and Prime 3-4 40-50 lbs hair sheep
265.00-275.00; 40-60 lbs 230.00-290.00. Wooled and Shorn Good and
Choice 1-3 40-50 lbs hair sheep 145.00-160.00; 50-70 lbs 177.00-
195.00, 60-70 lbs hair sheep 180.00-190.00; 70-90 lbs 142.00-172.00;

   Slaughter Ewes: Good 2-3 Medium Flesh 120-150 lbs 60.00-78.00,
hair sheep 60.00-64.00; 160-180 lbs 60.00-70.00. Utility 1-2
Thin Flesh 110-120 lbs 44.00-48.00, hair sheep 42.00-58.00; 120-
150 lbs 44.00-58.00; 160-180 lbs 44.00-58.00. Cull 1-2 Thin Flesh
120-150 lbs 28.00-36.00; 160-180 lbs 34.00-36.00. 

   Slaughter Bucks: 130-140 lbs 88.00-92.00; 150-160 lbs hair sheep
72.00-82.00; 160-190 lbs 50.00-97.00. 
                       
   Slaughter Goats: When compared to last week, slaughter kid goats
sold mostly steady to 10.00 higher compared last week. Nanny goats
sold mostly 5.00-10.00 lower. Slaughter billies sold mostly firm
compared to last week. Demand was good for all classes. Slaughter
supply consisted of 66 percent Slaughter Kids, 22 percent Slaughter
Nannies, and 12 percent bucks/billies and wethers. All Goats are
sold by the head on estimated weights.
          
    Slaughter Kids: Selection 1  40-60 lbs 142.00-167.00; 60-80 lbs
158.00-178.00; 80-90 lbs 167.00-175.00. Selection 2 40-60 lbs
110.00-138.00; 60-80 lbs 135.00-155.00; 90-100 lbs 120.00-160.00.
Selection 3 40-60 lbs 67.00-97.00; 60-80 lbs 64.00-76.00; 80-100 lbs
90.00-115.00.   

    Slaughter Nannies/Does: Selection 1 110-120 lbs 132.00-142.00;
120-150 lbs 135.00-160.00. Selection 2  110-120 lbs 102.00-122.00;
